A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle this past Monday night in South San Jose. According to the San Jose Police Department, the fatal accident occurred April 3rd at 8:07 p.m. near the intersection of Monterey Road and Roeder Road. Authorities stated that after hitting the victim, the driver crashed into a tree.
Very few details regarding the collision occurred were immediately available. The identity of the deceased victim has not been released pending a confirmation by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office and notification of next of kin. The identity of the driver also wasn’t disclosed.
An investigation is still ongoing in order to determine all the factors that contributed to this fatal collision. According to the police, the driver was cooperating with the investigation although it is unclear if that person was cited or arrested. This fatal collision is the 12th traffic fatality of the year in the city of San Jose.
